FotoFacialTM Intense Pulsed Light for Sun Damage, Aging, and Rosacea. PROCEDURE PERFORMED BY MELISSA PATTEE, PA-C and CAREY CANO, PA-C FotoFacial™ Treatments are non-invasive treatments using pulses of visible light that can dramatically reduce visible signs of sun damage and aging such as facial redness and spotting, and that can also reduce the embarrassing redness and flushing of rosacea – all with minimal downtime, little discomfort and minimal risk. Specifically, FotoFacial treatments are beneficial in the treatment of sun damage; they can reduce fine wrinkling, freckling and irregular pigmentation, and they can smooth skin, even skin tone and reduce pores. They also can reduce the overall redness, flushing and dilated capillaries of rosacea and may improve the breakouts of this common chronic facial condition. SAMPLE FOTO FACIAL RESULTS: Sun Damage
In this procedure, a non-laser medical device is used to deliver a series of gentle pulses of light to the skin. A series of five or more treatments is performed at three to four week intervals, with specific settings selected for each treatment for optimum results. Since chemical peels and micro-dermabrasion are relatively ineffective in reducing redness and flushing or dilated capillaries -- but have their own beneficial effects on skin tone and spotting -- FotoFacial treatment can be particularly effective when performed in conjunction with these procedures. For patients suffering from particularly severe symptoms of skin damage, the effect of Intense Pulsed Light treatments (IPL) can be especially augmented by first applying Levulan and following the IPL with blue light treatment.
